What is LASIK?

LASIK is a type of corrective procedure, also known as “laser vision correction,” that involves reshaping the cornea to correct common refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Over 10 million Americans have had LASIK Eye surgery since it was approved by the FDA in 1999.

The vast majority of patients who undergo LASIK end up with 20/20 vision and no longer depend on glasses or contact lenses. At EyeSight Hawaii, we offer Bladeless LASIK, an advanced form of the procedure that uses state-of-the-art laser technology to give you more precise, personalized results.

Am I a Good Candidate for LASIK?

An eye surgery consultation at EyeSight Hawaii is the first step in your journey to clearer vision. Consultations are necessary to verify whether or not you are a good candidate for laser vision correction.

During your consultation, one of our experienced surgeons will check your medical history and conduct a screening to determine if you are eligible. In general, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism that falls within the range that LASIK can treat
  • Have healthy eyes
  • Have thick enough corneas
  • Be in good overall health
  • Have had a stable prescription for at least one year or more

What is the EVO ICL?

The EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) is a revolutionary vision correction solution that's gently placed behind your iris and in front of your eye's natural lens. Unlike procedures that reshape your cornea, the EVO ICL works with your eye's existing structure to deliver crystal-clear vision. Crafted from Collamer, an advanced biocompatible material, the EVO ICL integrates seamlessly with your eye's natural chemistry. This unique compatibility makes it an ideal option for patients with dry eyes or thin corneas who may not be candidates for LASIK or other laser procedures.

One of the EVO ICL's most reassuring features is its reversibility. Should your vision needs change over time, the lens can be safely removed, giving you complete peace of mind about your choice. The EVO ICL effectively corrects a wide range of vision issues, including moderate to severe nearsightedness (-3.00 to -20.0 diopters) and astigmatism (1.0 to 4.0 diopters), often eliminating your dependence on glasses and contact lenses entirely.

"EVO ICL lens has helped me live life to the fullest with no more hesitation. I simply wake up and go about my day."

What Our Patient’s Say

“I went in for LASIK surgery yesterday and was treated so well, in and out of surgery that lasted about 2-3 minutes for both eyes. Today was my day-after check-up and I can see so clearly already! My eyes tested at 20/15 within 24 hrs of the surgery. I feel like my life completely changed in the matter of minutes. The team and office are SPECTACULAR. Highly recommend Dr Olkowski and his team!!”

- Katelyn D.

“I had a great experience here! The consultation, the surgery, and the follow-up were all handled so well. The staff are friendly and efficient. I was kept well informed throughout the process of what was to be expected, and everything was kept simple and easy to follow. Highly recommend considering EyeSight Hawaii if you’re looking for a place for LASIK!”

- Drifton L.

“Dr. Olkowski did my Lasik surgery in 1999, and truthfully, it was the best money I have ever spent.  Not just because of the awesome job Dr. Olkowski did, but because of the experience of working with the doctor and his staff.  During my entire experience, from initial assessment through the surgery itself, to the post-surgery check-up, was handled by Dr. Olkowski and his staff with tremendous professionalism and courtesy. If anyone is considering eye surgery, I highly recommend Dr. Olkowski.”
