What is EVO ICL?
The EVO Visian ICL is a biocompatible, stable, and flexible lens. Thanks to its additive technology, these implantable contact lenses are gently inserted into the eyes for corneal reshaping to treat common vision issues such as nearsightedness and astigmatism.
One of the greatest advantages of EVO Visian Implantable Collamer® lenses is that, unlike other procedures like laser eye surgery, they work in total harmony with your natural eye without the need to remove any tissue or alter the shape or size of your cornea.
This means that the recovery process is significantly quicker, and the lenses can be removed by your eye doctor at any time, making them less invasive than other implantable lenses. EVO Visian ICL is also a fantastic vision improvement option for patients who don’t qualify for LASIK or PRK surgery.

Consultation & Preparing For EVO Visian ICL Surgery
Prior to the procedure, you’ll be asked to attend an initial consultation with one of our eye surgeons to determine if you are eligible for EVO Visian ICL and to undergo a comprehensive refractive eye exam. This consultation is also a great time to ask any questions you may have about what visual outcomes you expect.
There isn’t a whole lot of preparation involved before EVO ICL surgery. Your ophthalmologist may ask you to stop wearing soft contact lenses up to a week before your EVO Visian ICL procedure, also, you’ll need to make transportation arrangements since you won’t be able to drive yourself home after the eye surgery.
Your EyeSight Hawaii surgical team will advise you of any additional pre and post-operative instructions in the days leading up to your procedure.
The EVO Visian ICL Procedure
The complete EVO Visian ICL procedure takes between 15 to 30 minutes per eye. When you arrive at the clinic, your doctor will give you eye drops to dilate your pupils and mild anesthetics to numb the eyeball. This makes the procedure totally painless. Next, your eye surgeon will make a tiny corneal incision to place the intraocular lens (IOL).
Finally, the lens will be carefully positioned behind the iris and in front of your natural lens, and the procedure will be over, then, your eye doctor will cover your eye with a clear protective shield to guard it against bumps and scratches during the first stages of healing.
Recovery time From EVO Visian ICL Surgery
You’ll notice an instant improvement in vision immediately following your treatment. Postoperative care is typically quick, and most patients return to work within 2 days after the operation. Avoid rubbing your eye(s) in the days following surgery to help speed up the process of wound repair.
During your follow-up visit, your doctor may also recommend avoiding screens and bright lights for about 24 hours after surgery to allow your eyeballs to fully recover.
