EVO ICL
in Hawaii

EyeSight Hawaii is thrilled to offer EVO Visian ICL, the latest in vision correction surgery technology that uses a biocompatible implantable Collamer® lens to improve moderate to severe nearsightedness ranging from -3.0 to -20.0 diopters.

Break free from glasses and contacts and start seeing the world with crystal clear vision with EVO Visian ICL offered at EyeSight Hawaii in Honolulu and Kahului, Hawaii.

What is EVO ICL?

The EVO Visian ICL is a biocompatible, stable, and flexible lens. Thanks to its additive technology, these implantable contact lenses are gently inserted into the eyes for corneal reshaping to treat common vision issues such as nearsightedness and astigmatism.

One of the greatest advantages of EVO Visian Implantable Collamer® lenses is that, unlike other procedures like laser eye surgery, they work in total harmony with your natural eye without the need to remove any tissue or alter the shape or size of your cornea.

This means that the recovery process is significantly quicker, and the lenses can be removed by your eye doctor at any time, making them less invasive than other implantable lenses. EVO Visian ICL is also a fantastic vision improvement option for patients who don’t qualify for LASIK or PRK surgery.

IDEAL Candidates For EVO Visian ICL

If you are between the ages of 21 and 45 and struggle with moderate to severe nearsightedness or astigmatism, you may be a candidate for vision correction with EVO Visian ICL. Other criteria for this procedure include:

  • Being in overall good physical and eye health
  • Not showing certain eye problems, including glaucoma or cataracts
  • Not being currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Having sufficient anterior chamber depth and acceptable endothelial cell density (this will be determined by your EyeSight Hawaii ophthalmologist after a comprehensive eye exam)
  • Not having changes in your eyeglass prescription of more than 0.5D within a year

Consultation & Preparing For EVO Visian ICL Surgery

Prior to the procedure, you’ll be asked to attend an initial consultation with one of our eye surgeons to determine if you are eligible for EVO Visian ICL and to undergo a comprehensive refractive eye exam. This consultation is also a great time to ask any questions you may have about what visual outcomes you expect.

There isn’t a whole lot of preparation involved before EVO ICL surgery. Your ophthalmologist may ask you to stop wearing soft contact lenses up to a week before your EVO Visian ICL procedure, also, you’ll need to make transportation arrangements since you won’t be able to drive yourself home after the eye surgery.

Your EyeSight Hawaii surgical team will advise you of any additional pre and post-operative instructions in the days leading up to your procedure.

The EVO Visian ICL Procedure

The complete EVO Visian ICL procedure takes between 15 to 30 minutes per eye. When you arrive at the clinic, your doctor will give you eye drops to dilate your pupils and mild anesthetics to numb the eyeball. This makes the procedure totally painless. Next, your eye surgeon will make a tiny corneal incision to place the intraocular lens (IOL).

Finally, the lens will be carefully positioned behind the iris and in front of your natural lens, and the procedure will be over, then, your eye doctor will cover your eye with a clear protective shield to guard it against bumps and scratches during the first stages of healing.

Recovery time From EVO Visian ICL Surgery

You’ll notice an instant improvement in vision immediately following your treatment. Postoperative care is typically quick, and most patients return to work within 2 days after the operation. Avoid rubbing your eye(s) in the days following surgery to help speed up the process of wound repair.

During your follow-up visit, your doctor may also recommend avoiding screens and bright lights for about 24 hours after surgery to allow your eyeballs to fully recover.

Frequently Asked Questions about EVO Visian ICL

How long do EVO Visian ICL lenses last?

EVO ICL lenses are intended to be permanent and are designed to be completely unobtrusive to your vision after they are put into place, meaning that you won’t be able to feel them once they’re inside your eyes. However, since EVO Visian ICL lenses don’t require removal of corneal tissue, they are also fully removable by a surgeon should you ever want or need to remove or replace them.

Is EVO Visian ICL safe?

Yes, the EVO Visian ICL outpatient procedure has been proven to be highly safe and effective for people with moderate to severe myopia and/or astigmatism. Keep in mind that like any surgical procedure, there can be possible side effects. Although rare, these may include:
• Risk of inflammation or eye infection
• Intraocular pressure
• Need for another surgical procedure
• Glares or halos

How much does EVO ICL usually cost?

The EVO Visian ICL procedure can cost anywhere between $3000 and $5000 per eye. We understand that this is a significant investment, but ultimately, a lifetime supply of glasses or contact lenses would most likely be more expensive. For more information about payment plans and budgeting options, please don’t hesitate to contact EyeSight Hawaii at 808-735-1935.

Will insurance cover EVO Visian ICL surgery?

Unfortunately, EVO Visian ICL surgery is considered an elective procedure and therefore it is not covered by insurance.

What is the age limit for ICL surgery?
